SUMMARY:Villagers
DESCRIPTION:Completed Grades 3-4\nOffered: \n\nJuly 5 – 10\nJuly 12 – 17\n\nVillagers experience a full week at camp. They sleep in bunk beds in our Village cabins with a trained Cabin Leader and a group of other same aged campers. With opportunities for swimming*\, boating\, playing games\, arts-n-crafts\, a beach party\, and singing songs\, campers will stay active from morning ‘til night! \nA week as a Villager will help your child grow in faith\, build friendships\, gain confidence and learn independence. They’ll learn to come together as a group with kids they don’t know while navigating new experiences together. Typical highlights include giggling in the cabin\, savoring snacks from the canteen\, devouring s’mores at the beach party\, and making projects in arts-n-crafts. They will come home with a pile of dirty laundry\, sharing stories from camp and the Bible! \n*Please note that this is the first program during which campers are eligible to take the swim test. Those who pass have the opportunity to swim in the deep end. It’s a major milestone and achievement for many campers. However\, there is still plenty of fun to be had in the shallow end\, sand\, and on watercraft for campers who do not opt to take the swim test or do not pass. All waterfront users are supervised by certified lifeguards at all times. \nMore Information:\n\nYouth Camp Guide\n\n\nPrice:\n\n$485/person\n\nPlease note: We never wish to turn away anyone for financial reasons. SUMMARY:Mini Camp
DESCRIPTION:Completed Grades 2-3\n \nExperience three awesome nights at camp as a great introduction to Fortune Lake! Campers sleep in bunk beds in Village cabins with a trained Cabin Leader and a small group of cabin mates. They enjoy the shallow end at the waterfront (under the supervision of certified lifeguards)\, create crafts\, play group games\, sing songs\, things\, make friends\, and gain confidence\, all while learning about Jesus! \nThis is a great first taste of camp (or a next step after Mighty Ones) for those who are gaining independence. They can come on their own or with a friend… there will be plenty of new friends waiting to welcome campers when they arrive. The program keeps campers moving\, and they usually want to try the full week next time! \nThe program will close with a short celebration of what the campers have learned\, and families are encouraged to attend. \nMore Information:\n\nYouth Camp Guide\n\n\nPrice:\n\n$335/person\n\nPlease note: We never wish to turn away anyone for financial reasons. If your child would like to attend camp and cost is a concern\, please complete our Campership Application or call 906-214-2267 or email  officemanager@fortunelake.org for information.

SUMMARY:Mash Up
DESCRIPTION:Completed Grades 4-8\nWant to try youth camp\, but still feeling a little tentative? Finding that your summer schedule makes it difficult to sneak away for five nights? This three-night program is perfect for those extra busy kids\, or for campers who want a taste of Fortune Lake but aren’t ready for the full week experience. \nCampers enjoy all that our various camp programs have to offer\, all mashed up together! They’ll swim\, create\, play\, hike\, and do Bible activities as a group. They’ll get the highlights of other major programs including a tube trip on the Paint River\, campfire cooking\, and an opportunity to interact with the Vagabonds\, who are the other big kids onsite. \nMash Up campers will stay two nights in duplex cabins\, which have in-cabin bathrooms and a gathering space. They’ll have one special tenting overnight on a more rustic section of Fortune Lake’s property. This allows the campers to get the best of both worlds! Three nights as a mash up camper will leave campers feeling more confident and self-assured\, and likely asking to come back to camp next year!

SUMMARY:Mighty Ones
DESCRIPTION:Completed Grade 1-2\nThis two-night experience is perfect for our youngest campers who are ready to try camp on their own! \nMighty Ones will live in small groups in our Village cabins where they’ll build friendships and enjoy games\, campfires\, beach time (in the shallow end under the supervision of certified lifeguards)\, songs\, and Bible activities. Trained cabin leaders accompany campers to all of their activities\, and they always stay with their cabin groups to provide familiarity and structure. \nCampers learn new games and songs\, try new foods\, and make new friends. They are often more inclined to embrace these opportunities at camp than when they’re at home\, making this a big growth opportunity. This high-energy experience makes campers (and staff) content\, confident\, and exhausted! \nThe program will close with a short celebration of what the campers have learned\, and families are encouraged to attend. \nPlease note: We never wish to turn away anyone for financial reasons. If your child would like to attend camp and cost is a concern\, please complete our Campership Application or call 906-214-2267 or email  officemanager@fortunelake.org for information. \nMore Information:\n\nYouth Camp Guide\n\n\nPrice:\n\n$240/person\n\nPlease note: We never wish to turn away anyone for financial reasons. SUMMARY:Intergenerational Week (Half-Week)
DESCRIPTION:Families of all ages\nIntergenerational campers come in all shapes\, sizes\, ages. We have multi-generational families\, Godparents and Godchildren\, single adults\, and grandparents and grandkids\, and everything in between. \nOur Intergenerational Camp program is all inclusive with meals\, lodging\, and quality Christ-centered activities for all ages led by energetic summer staff. \nIf you want to experience Jesus’s love in intentional community with your family\, this experience is for you! Our intergenerational camps build an excitement for God\, create meaningful faith practices you can continue at home\, and invite you to play together in God’s amazing creation. You have time to both relax AND create memories as a family! \nHere’s a taste of what our Intergenerational campers will enjoy: campfire worship\, beach time\, hikes\, Arts-n-Crafts\, outdoor games\, fishing\, boat rides\, river tubing\, s’mores\, and stargazing. Morning Bible study groups will be broken down by age groups\, and adults will be treated to a facilitator who will both inspire and challenge their faith while the kiddos engage with their peers. \nThere is so much outdoor fun to be had! Tim will help adults to reflect on the following: What is community?  How do our five senses lead us home into community\, not only with fellow human beings but with the non-human beings all around us? Through playful exploration of poetry and sound we will consider what community is and how God clothes us in grace and love. Poetry by Mary Oliver and Indigenous Poet Joy Harjo as well as Craig’s singing bowls will be some of our guides. \nPASTOR TIM JOHNSTON serves at Bethel in Ishpeming.  His curiosity and love of creation lead him to joy filled pondering and questions through conversation\, poetry\, and shared relationships.  His favorite place for conversation is the sauna\, but anywhere at camp is great!  \n\n \nCRAIG KITCHEN will share his love of bowls and gongs with the group. Craig’s life has included many beautiful experiences\, from working with large cats in a zoo to serving as a therapist for youth with substance use disorders. He holds an M. S. in Community Counseling. \n\n3-Night Pricing\n\n\n\n\nAdults\nAges 13-18\nAges 4-12\nAges 0-3\n\n\nRustic Cabins\n$240\n$180\n$130\n$80\n\n\nDuplex*\n$260\n$190\n$140\n$95\n\n\nLodge\n$315\n$235\n$190\n$120\n\n\n\nFAMILY MAXIMUM = $1\,170\n \nEarly Bird discounts apply\, but only if Family Maximum is not reached. \n* When you choose to stay in a duplex\, you may be housed with another family of similar makeup depending on the size of your group (ex: a family of three will not likely have a half duplex to themselves; another small group will be lodged with them.). \n\nMore Information:\n\nIntergenerational Camp Guide\n\nPlease note: We never wish to turn away anyone for financial reasons. Please join us and invite a friend. \nAlso Offered: \n\nFull Week option 1: June 14 – 19\nHalf-Week: June 28 – July 1\nFull Week option 2: July 26 – 31\n\n\nSpeakers:\nDuring intergenerational week\, Dawn will guide you through some exciting findings about brain development in children. Whether you are a parent\, grandparent\, baptism sponsor\, or congregational member committed to showing up\, you can help provide faith formation experiences that help shape healthy brain development. \nJonathan will lead the adults through a Lutheranism series\, using Daniel Erlander’s Baptized We Live book. He’ll touch on Lutheran theology\, history\, and music. \nDawn and Jonathan Rundman were FLLC campers in the late ’70s and ’80s\, and worked on FLLC staff in the late ’80s and early ’90s. Dawn grew up at Bethany Lutheran Church in Escanaba\, and Jonathan grew up at Bethel Lutheran Church in Ishpeming. \nDR. DAWN RUNDMAN is Director of Congregational Development and Marketing at Augsburg Fortress Publishers\, the publishing ministry of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). She is also the series editor for Mouth House books\, a new series of books amplifying voices for change within the ELCA and beyond. \nAdditionally\, she is the program director for the grant-funded Unbridled Presence program at Augsburg Fortress that is supported by Lilly Endowment’s Nurturing Children through Worship and Prayer initiative. \nWielding a Ph.D. in Developmental Psychology\, a fondness for innovative faith practices\, deep love of wordsmithing\, and several years as a summer camp counselor\, Dawn believes intergenerational church communities can be hubs for healthy human development that nurture faith\, build relationships\, and reinforce vocation. \nShe teaches\, speaks\, and writes frequently about early childhood faith formation and has authored Little Steps\, Big Faith: How the Science of Early Childhood Can Help You Grow Your Child’s Faith. \n\nJONATHAN RUNDMAN is a Midwest-based songwriter\, performer\, and recording artist. His critically acclaimed songs have been highlighted in publications such as Billboard\, The New York Times\, and Christian Century\, and have received radio airplay from coast to coast and in Europe. \nJonathan’s songs have been used as programmatic theme music for regional and national Youth Gatherings. His songs “By Grace We Have Been Saved” and “For Such A Time As This” appear in the new Lutheran hymnal supplement All Creation Sings. Congregations across the country use his Heartland Liturgy for their church services. He also wrote “Hymn For Fortune Lake” for the 80th anniversary of FLLC in 2010. \nIn 2022 Jonathan Rundman graduated from Luther Seminary\, and now serves as Pastor of Worship and Music at Shepherd of the Lake Lutheran Church\, in Prior Lake\, MN. \n\n5-Night Pricing\n\nDuplex lodging is now closed. There is still limited space in rustic Village cabins\, and limited space in Lodges.\n\n\n\n\n\nAdults\nAges 13-18\nAges 4-12\nAges 0-3\n\n\nRustic Cabins\n$385\n$285\n$210\n$120\n\n\nDuplex*\n$410\n$310\n$230\n$140\n\n\nLodge\n$470\n$360\n$290\n$180\n\n\n\nFAMILY MAXIMUM = $1\,700 \nEarly Bird discounts apply\, but only if Family Maximum is not reached.\n \n*When you choose to stay in a duplex\, you may be housed with another family of similar makeup depending on the size of your group (ex: a family of three will not likely have a half duplex to themselves; another small group will be lodged with them). \nMore Information:\n\nIntergenerational Camp Guide\n\nPlease note: We never wish to turn away anyone for financial reasons. SUMMARY:Made in God's Image: An Anti-Racism Retreat
DESCRIPTION:Please note the new dates for this retreat: February 27 – March 1\nFor adults\nAll are invited to attend our Made in God’s Image Anti-racism Retreat at Fortune Lake Lutheran Camp! The retreat will take place at Fortune Lake February 27 – March 1\, 2026. There are a variety of lodging options available. \nThis retreat is an opportunity to engage in intentional conversation around anti-racism. Our program will approach this complex topic through Bible Studies that will ground our work in Scripture\, sessions pertaining to our own biases and how we exist within the structure of systemic racism\, opportunities to listen to the experiences of others\, and resources and discussion about what anti-racism work looks like in our own settings. We will also employ a small group cohort model throughout the weekend to encourage participants to process what they are learning. \nOur theme\, “Made in God’s Image\,” intends to center the inherent belovedness of each person\, not in spite of their intersecting identities\, but in celebration of them. For more information about Fortune Lake’s welcome of all people\, please refer to our Welcome Statement. \nAre you a clergy person that needs to be in your congregational setting by Sunday morning? Please contact the camp office by calling (906) 214-2267 or emailing hospitality@fortunelake.org to discuss your options. We want as many people as possible to attend this retreat\, regardless of their schedule.  \nThis retreat is intended for all people\, no matter their racial or ethnic identity\, though Fortune Lake recognizes that white people most often have more work to do when it comes to walking alongside their siblings of color. Our hope is that all people will come away from this retreat feeling like they have a better understanding of their own biases. If you are interested in attending this retreat but are unsure if it’s for you\, please contact the camp office for more details.  \n  \n\n\n\nPrices\n\n\n\n\nLodge (Double + Occupancy): $200\nDuplex: $165\nCommuter: $90\n\nRegistration\n\nOpens: Now!\nCloses: February 20 @ 11:59 PM CST

SUMMARY:Sacred Waters Youth Retreat for Grades 3-6
DESCRIPTION:For Grades 3 – 6\nFortune Lake invites all current 3rd through 6th graders to our Sacred Waters Retreat April 4-5! Join us for a weekend of faith-building fun and a full schedule of camp favorites. \nThis year’s theme\, “Sacred Waters\,” will focus on baptism; what it is\, why we do it\, and what it means. Campers do not need to be baptized to come to this retreat! Our Bible Studies will take an accessible approach in hopes that everyone comes away with a better understanding of the radical promise that is Holy Baptism. The retreat will also include campfire worship\, games\, songs\, outdoor play\, and more! Our one-night retreats are a favorite with returning and first-time campers alike. The shortened experience is the perfect opportunity to visit camp and see old friends while enjoying some camp favorites as well as a chance to try things out before committing to the full week. \nCampers may come as individuals\, with friends\, or with a group from their congregation. Fortune Lake is also excited to offer a training opportunity for adult youth leaders who attend the retreat. We highly encourage attendance of adult leaders and provide the option of staying in with the campers or staying in one of our lodges for an additional fee. Adults will experience the retreat alongside their youth and step out on Saturday morning to attend the training (see below). \nCheck in will be from 6:00 – 6:30 pm CT on April 4. There will be an evening snack served on Friday night\, but please have dinner before arriving at Fortune Lake. Breakfast and Lunch on Saturday are included. The retreat ends at 3 pm CT on April 5. There is a closing worship at 2:30 pm CT\, and family members are welcome to attend.\n\nIf you have further questions about the retreat\, please reach out to the camp office by calling (906)214-2267 or by emailing hospitality@fortunelake.org\n  \n\nRegistration deadline for this retreat is March 28 at 11:59 pm CT. \nAdult Leader Workshop Option:\nApril 5\, 2025\n9:00 am – 12:00 pm CST \n A training opportunity for adult leaders who work with you (lay leaders\, volunteers\, pastors\, etc.) will take place on Saturday morning and run in conjunction with the youth retreat.
