SUMMARY:Made in God's Image: An Anti-Racism Retreat
DESCRIPTION:Please note the new dates for this retreat: February 27 – March 1\nFor adults\nAll are invited to attend our Made in God’s Image Anti-racism Retreat at Fortune Lake Lutheran Camp! The retreat will take place at Fortune Lake February 27 – March 1\, 2026. There are a variety of lodging options available. \nThis retreat is an opportunity to engage in intentional conversation around anti-racism. Our program will approach this complex topic through Bible Studies that will ground our work in Scripture\, sessions pertaining to our own biases and how we exist within the structure of systemic racism\, opportunities to listen to the experiences of others\, and resources and discussion about what anti-racism work looks like in our own settings. We will also employ a small group cohort model throughout the weekend to encourage participants to process what they are learning. \nOur theme\, “Made in God’s Image\,” intends to center the inherent belovedness of each person\, not in spite of their intersecting identities\, but in celebration of them. For more information about Fortune Lake’s welcome of all people\, please refer to our Welcome Statement. \nAre you a clergy person that needs to be in your congregational setting by Sunday morning? We want as many people as possible to attend this retreat\, regardless of their schedule.  \nThis retreat is intended for all people\, no matter their racial or ethnic identity\, though Fortune Lake recognizes that white people most often have more work to do when it comes to walking alongside their siblings of color. Our hope is that all people will come away from this retreat feeling like they have a better understanding of their own biases. SUMMARY:Growing in Grace Virtual Retreat
DESCRIPTION:For adults ages 18+\nGROWING IN GRACE  VIRTUAL RETREAT:   MAY 5-6\, 2023 \nThe Growing in Grace VIRTUAL Retreat is an opportunity for folks who are interested in LGBTQIA+ inclusion work both in a broader sense\, in their congregations\, and specifically at Fortune Lake.  The online component will feature six sessions emphasizing Aubrey Thonvold\, Director of Reconciling Works.  To learn more about Reconciling works\, follow this link: https://www.reconcilingworks.org/ \nPresenter: Aubrey Thonvold\, Executive Director\, Reconciling Works.  \nAubrey Thonvold (she/her) is a lifelong Lutheran who is committed to work centered in justice and equity for LGBTQIA+ people and their families within religious and faith communities.  With a master’s degree in Transforming Spirituality from The School of Theology and Ministry at Seattle University\, she strives to bring people in and invite all to the table.  She leads this work at Reconciling Works with a sense of call to this holy ministry. \nThe following sessions are available via Zoom and will last approximately one hour each (All times are CT): \nFriday\, May 5\, 2023       6:30 pm   Session 1\, Aubrey Thonvold\, \nFriday\, May 5\, 2023       8:15 pm   Bible Study \nSaturday\, May 6\, 2023  9:00 am   Session 2\, Aubrey Thonvold \nSaturday\, May 6\, 2023  10:00 am Bible Study \nSaturday\, May 6\, 2023  11:00 am  Panel Discussion \nSaturday\, May 6\, 2023   1:30 pm   Session 3\, Aubrey Thonvold \nRegistration and Payment Deadline:  May 4\, 2023  5:oo PM CST \nPrice/payment details: $40 fee includes access to all special sessions via Zoom.
